Counselling and Clinical Psychologist

 
 

Dr Anthony Arcuri is a registered Counselling and Clinical Psychologist. He holds a Doctor of Psychology in Counselling Psychology, along with a Bachelor of Arts and a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology, from Macquarie University, Sydney. He has also completed specialist studies in Clinical Psychology.


Anthony has over 10 years’ experience working therapeutically with adults and adolescents across a variety of settings, including private practice, mental health, youth drug and alcohol, and university settings.


Anthony works across the spectrum of psychological difficulties with a primarily psychodynamic approach, and has additional background training in systemic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and specialist substance use treatment. Anthony is dedicated to continuing professional development. He engages weekly in psychotherapy consultation meetings, attends seminars regularly, and reads widely to ensure that his practice remains aligned with the latest developments in psychotherapy theory and research.


In addition to psychotherapy work, Anthony has worked for a number of years conducting research and teaching in the areas of psychotherapy, substance use and young people. He has had his work published in international journals and books, and has presented numerous papers at national and international conferences.


Anthony has taught personality studies and drug and alcohol studies to undergraduate students, and qualitative research methods to postgraduate students, across several universities. He is currently an Adjunct Supervisor (HDR) and Honorary Associate in the Department of Psychology, Macquarie University, Sydney.


Memberships and Registrations

  1. Registered as a Counselling and Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA; please see their register of practitioners for verification)

  2. Registered with the PBA as an approved supervisor for endorsement as a Counselling Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist, and as a principal or secondary supervisor for intern psychologists.

  3. Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS)

  4. Member of the APS College of Counselling Psychologists

  5. Member of the APS College of Clinical Psychologists

  6. Approved supervisor for entry in the APS Colleges of Counselling and Clinical Psychology

  7. Registered with Medicare Australia as a Provider of Specialist Clinical Psychology Services

  8. Registered with many private health funds as a Provider of Psychology Services
